Hassocks Amenity Association Save Lag Wood Update

Auction result:   Sold for £122,000.   Hassocks Amenity Association had raised £90,000, so we were unsuccessful in obtaining the wood and the 'pheasant's field'.  The good news is that we have met the new owners who live in Brighton.  They told us that they were committed to keeping Lag Wood as it is, and the public would continue to have access. They would like to meet the groups who use the wood, and we will be arranging a meeting in due course.  So, although disappointed, HAA is not despondent – and how many villages are there that could raise £90,000 in eight days?

Help Save Lag Wood

SAVE LAGG WOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY

URGENT ACTION NEEDED

Lag Wood will be auctioned on Tuesday morning (30th October).  This is a last ditch attempt to enable everyone to continue to access this ancient, protected woodland with its unique chalk stream.   Hassocks children have played there for generations.  In the Spring, the wild flowers are breathtaking. For walkers, it's a popular short local stroll.

The guide price is £80,000 to £100,000. The first £10,000 has already been raised through HAA members. We need at least contributions of another £70,000 to make a serious bid.

Brighton Greyhound Owners Association – Retired Greyhound Trust – Kennels Open Day on Sunday 10th June 2012 from 11.00am to 2.00pm. at New House Farm, Twineham Lane, Twineham, RH17 5NP.
Please come and meet the team, see the work that we do, and most importantly greet the greyhounds.

The open day is for humans only, as the kennel dogs could get a little upset if loads of hounds turn up on their patch.
Please see the
website for more information about the work of the RGT.
